Day-wise Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu

Group arrival in Kathmandu the Capital of Nepal and we will transfer to Hotel from Airport and brief about the yatra . Overnight stay at Hotel

Hotel: Dusit Princes/The Everest/Moonlight/Equal

Morning darshan of the Pashupatinath temple and Guheshori Shaktipith and afternoon fly to Nepalgunj, also darshan in nepalgunj of Jaya Bhageshori Shaktipith temple. Overnight stay in Nepalgunj at hotel

Early morning after tea, you will drive to Nepalgunj airport to catch the flight to Simikot. Simikot (2910m) is the district Headquarter of Humla, a mountain district of Nepal. It is also a gate way to Kailash tour by Helicopter. You will spend the rest of the day for a rest and acclimatize; and if you will have a little more, you will do a short trek around Simikot. In the mean time we will finish the immigration process in Nepal side. Overnight stay in Hotel.

Note: On this day, depending on the situation we can go to Hilsa from Simikot by helicopter. Hilsa is a remote, riverside small village.

After breakfast, we will walk to Simikot airport and take helicopter to Hilsa. It takes 20 minutes to reach Hilsa. You will see the scenic view of green hills and snow capped mountain along with deep river gorge of River Karnali from the helicopter. After 30 minutes walk from Hilsa, we will reach at the immigration office and we will get the pass to enter into Tibet. Our vehicle will be waiting us in the Tibet side. Nearly after 45 minutes drive, we will arrive at Taklakot/Purang (4025 m). Overnight stay at Hotel in Taklakot.

After breakfast, we drive to the holy and beautiful Lake Mansarovar (4550m). It is 100 km from Taklakot to Mansarovar which will take 1.5 hours. RAKCHHAS TAL is another spot on the way to Mansarovar; we stop there for few minutes to catch an amazing beauty of the lake. Then we continue to drive to Mansarovar. When we arrive at Mansarovar, we will take rest with lunch at the guest house; and we will be ready for Mansarovar kora with vehicle. It is the most auspicious day for us as we will see the first glimpse of holy Kailash and sacred Lake Mansarovar. We will take holy bath on the bank of Mansarovar and have beautiful scenes around Mansarovar. Overnight stay at Guest house in Mansarovar.

Night Stay: Lake Side Guest House.

Drive to Darchen and Overnight at Darchen. (Optional: Asthapath Visit) – Whoever is willing to do the Asthapath visit (if permitted by the Chinese officials/army), can do by paying an additional cost of CNY 500 – 600 per person. (8-10 km / 30 min drive)

Altitude: 4575 m

After breakfast drive towards Yama Dwar. Yamadwar (Tarboche) which is the starting point of Kailash Parikrama. Tarboche is also well known as an outer “Asthapath”. It is one of the exciting days walking along the beautiful rocky cliffs; waterfalls with some clouds in the clear blue sky make you feel that Great God Shiva is everywhere with tons of blessing to you. We see Ganesh Parwat on its’ side. Time to time the north face of Kailash Parbat will be kept on appearing. Overnight at the guest house. (If you are not doing Parikrama, then you will be waiting at Darchen – Mud Guest House, multiple sharing (if using hotel Himalya /any Chinese Hotel with attached bathrooms then Cost Difference INR 3000 per person for 2 nights to be paid directly by guest) till Group return from Parikrama; we will arrange accommodation & Meals.

Night Stay: Mud Guest House

Today is the most challenging day in our Yatra. Who would like to go for Charan Sparsh If Permitted ( Restricted by Army Since Last week of Aug-24) (4km one way ) Can go Early in the Morning or can go previous day Day 06 after reaching Diraphuk , After Breakfast Trek from Dirapuk to Dolma La Pass (8 km). About 3 kms before reaching Dolma La Pass is steep hill and quite difficult to walk. Also descending from Dolma La Pass is the same for up to 3 km. While descending you can see Gaurikund on the right. After walking for about 2 – 3 hrs we will reach Phedi. After some rest we will start trek to Zuthulpuk . Overnight at Guest house

Night stay: Mud Guest House.

Altitude: 4760 M/5700 m –TOP

After early breakfast, we will walk 3 hours to catch our vehicle to the Nepal border. Our staff will prepare lunch in Darchen (on the way to Hilsa). After lunch we will continue drive to Nepal border. We will make immigration procedure to exit Tibet and do short walk to Hilsa in Nepal side. Dinner & Overnight at guest house in Hilsa or Simikot. In Hilsa very normal Basic accommodation available so we will try to reach Simikot if Time and weather permit.

If night stay in Hilsa then Early in the morning, by Heli to Simikot. We will catch another flight to Nepalgunj. Arrive to Nepalgunj drive to Nepalgunj hotel take lunch and proceed to Lucknow.

1. Passport must be valid for six months from the date of departure. Age Limit for Yatra 10 – 70 Years for Indians at the time of entering Tibet.
2. Recommendation for Indians: Please Issue Air Tickets for Kathmandu, as per the name on your Voter ID. (You Must Carry ORIGINAL VOTER ID to FLY Kathmandu)
3. For Indian Passport Holders- Original Passport required 20 – 25 working Days prior to travel date at Lucknow office.
4. Foreign Passport Holders: This route is not valid.
5. Keep your return ticket open; sometimes due to bad weather condition return journey can be delay. Issue Insured Air Tickets for Date change & Cancellation.

Exclusions

  • Using extra Nights in the hotel/guesthouse (except the hotels mentioned in the itinerary)
  • Rescue/evacuation, or all the extra costs incurred due to splitting from the main group or a serious health condition
  • Early arrival in Nepal, returning from Kailash; the Tibet side stay is not adjustable in Nepal side.
  • Expenses of a personal nature & tipping to staffs
  • Any rate increase by Tibet/China in last moment after making the booking.
  • Any extra expenses for extra days accommodation in Kathmandu/ Nepalgunj/Simikot/Hilsa/Purang due to bad weather/flight cancellation or any other reason
  • Any extra cost due to a late permit/visa from the Tibet part
  • Hotel/ Guest house upgrading
  • Travel Insurance & GST
  • If the cost increases due to a hike in the tax structure by the Government. of India or China
  • TCS, if applicable by the Govt. of India ( Shall be adjusted in your yearly tax)
  • Difference of Normal & Urgent Visa Fee if required

Note: the Yatra covers several geographically constrained stops with limited basic amenities like toilet, internet, electricity, as such. Likewise, natural calamities : flood, landslide result in road blocks causing delay in your travel. Additionally, hotels remain crowded during full moons when services will be compromised. We expect your understanding in this regard!

Fitness

Participants are kindly advised to consult their doctor prior to the Yatra. The maximum age limit for participation is 70 years.

As Mount Kailash and Lake Manasarovar is situated at high altitudes please start exercises like walking, jogging, yoga and other breathing exercises in order to have a successful yatra

Kindly get yourself a medical insurance for this yatra. Please make sure you cover yourself for emergency evacuation (helicopter) in the insurance.

Vindham Travelsshall not be held responsible for any changes arising from modifications to official rules or laws of Tibet.

Furthermore, the company will not be liable for any alterations to the itinerary due to unavoidable circumstances such as landslides, road blockages, floods, snow, political unrest, flight cancellations, illness, or accidents. Any additional costs incurred as a result of these circumstances shall be borne by the participants.
